Whiplash Injury

Whiplash Injury

Whiplash injuries are the most common medical incident after any car accident, being stopped very quickly while going 30mp in a car is not something that your neck is designed to deal with. If you have been in a car wreck and your neck hurts then that is whiplash. Describing it like that in no way shows how serious it actually is, a whiplash injury can cause pain for years, many people will have to take extended amounts of time off work.

Some Whiplash Injury Symptoms

  • Headaches
  • Dizzines
  • Exhaustion
  • Neck and Shoulder pain

Like anything that causes extended pain whiplash injuries can lead to depression and anxiety. You can understand why it is vital that you do not just shrug it off and think your neck will get better on its own. Without medical care there is a very small chance that your neck muscles will recover properly and extended periods of pain are not good for anyone.

Record Everything
The chances are that you will be dealing with an insurance claim after your accident. If you were in a car accident that has resulted in you needing treatment from your Dr or at a medical center you should record everything. If you get any hospital bills keep them in one place, if you have to take pills make sure you keep notes on and receipts for any money you spend. Keeping a diary is a good way to record all the details, should you need to put in an insurance claim you will be pleased you did when the insurance assessor asks you for details.

Details Equal Money
The more information you can present when you fill in your insurance injury claim form the better chance there is that the insurance company will make a inury payment. Just telling them your neck hurts a bit and you think you have a whiplash injury is not nearly as persuasive as showing them a record of all your Dr appointments and a record of how many mornings off work you have had due to your injury.

Do not take your injury lightly and do not wait too long when asked to see a Dr, if you do not take it seriously why should the insurance company.
